When there is fun to be had Maeser Elementary students are often right in the middle of
it. A great example of this is the school’s annual Cubs & Cops Dodgeball game during
which the 5th graders play dodgeball against local law enforcement. This year’s event
was recently held and the 5th grade classes played against officers from the Uintah
County Sheriff’s Office and the Naples Police Department. “Our kids really look forward
to this event each year,” shares Maeser Principal Denise Williams. “It’s a great
opportunity for them to get to know the people who keep our community safe, and it’s a
chance for our officers to get to know our kids better, too.” The school mascot, Karl the
Cub, was also on hand along with the younger classes to cheer on the competition. The
event is one that students and local law enforcement officers love and look forward to.
