This Saturday, December 14th, is the Christmas memory making event you won’t want to miss:the annual’ Breakfast with Santa’. “Breakfast with Santa was started nearly two decades ago by the Uintah Recreation District and Vernal City as an annual ‘Thank you’ to the entire community!” shares event organizer Ron Litton. “The Elks Lodge has done the cooking every single year, Davis Food & Drug has donated the food to be cooked, along with food donations from some of their major suppliers. We started out at the Elks Lodge for a couple of years but quickly outgrew that. We then moved to Western Park for a few years and eventually moved to what is now the Uintah Middle School cafeteria… which works really well,” he continues. “There is always excellent entertainment going on, coloring pages to help keep the kids busy, and Santa very informally walks around and talks to folks while they eat breakfast… Brian Litton has played [piano] every single year. The Maeser Music Machine (including Ashley Elementary singers last year) have performed for many years. We often have dancers… Powerhouse ballerinas again this year. And Mindy Smith’s violin student’s will be back again this year. It’s fun, it’s free, it’s easy, it’s relaxed. You can’t beat it!” After the breakfast Santa goes over to the Uintah Community Center where there’s a more formal sit-on-Santa’s-lap setting for pictures and where kids can tell Santa what they want for Christmas. Come be part of this annual tradition!
