Strawberry Reservoir is a popular spot for anglers and the Division of Wildlife Resources is asking for their help while enjoying their day on the lake. On December 21st, 2023, the DWR was contacted by an angler who reported catching a walleye at Strawberry Reservoir which meant that the fish species had been illegally introduced to the water source. As a result, the DWR is asking all anglers to report any walleye that they see or catch at Strawberry Reservoir. In addition to their current netting efforts, the DWR plans to do some electrofishing surveys and spawning trap operations at Strawberry Reservoir this spring to determine if additional walleye remain in Strawberry Reservoir. Strawberry Reservoir is a Blue Ribbon Fishery where the DWR stocks cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and kokanee salmon each year. The illegal introduction of Walleye could impact the current fishery in multiple ways leading to the request that any angler who catches a walleye at Strawberry Reservoir, please immediately kill and report it to 801-455-2010. Also, any information leading to the conviction of whoever illegally introduced the walleye could be rewarded with $5,000 dollars.
