An important training exercise is taking place at Uintah High School next week. The Uintah School District has announced that an ‘active shooter’ drill has been planned for June 11th and will involve district employees, law enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions, EMS, and fire department personnel. A group of high school students have volunteered, with parental consent, to be part of the drills. The day-long training exercise will involve several ‘active shooter’ scenarios. “The public should expect to hear sirens around the high school throughout the day [on Monday],” shares Uintah School District. Ambulances will also be arriving at the high school and leaving to transport ‘victims’ to Ashley Regional Medical Center. Please do not be alarmed or call Central Dispatch to report an incident at the high school during Monday’s drill. “We believe this training is necessary and relevant, given recent events around the country,” shares Uintah School District. “We also believe the tactics and skills practiced during these exercises will help our school staff, law enforcement, and EMS personnel effectively respond to an active shooter situation, should one happen in our community.”
