Better buckle up because a record amount of Americans have hit the road for the Independence Day holiday. AAA reports that a record-breaking 44.2 million Americans will take to the nation’s roads, skies, rails and waterways to celebrate the red, white, and blue holiday. This 2017 holiday is expected to be the most traveled Independence Day ever with 1.25 million more travelers than last year. “Combined, strong employment, rising incomes and higher consumer confidence bode well for the travel industry, in particular this Independence Day weekend,” shares AAA Vice President Bill Sutherland. “A historic 44.2 million Americans will travel to celebrate our nation’s freedom this year, adding to an already bustling summer travel season.” Thankfully, the national average gas price is cheaper than this time last year and is a contributing factor in the increase in travelers.
