Utah Senator Mike Lee has released a report that details how Biden Administration policies have seriously raised costs for American families. Policies such as shutting down the Keystone Pipeline and imposing new mandates and taxes on oil and gas producers have caused energy prices in the U.S. to increase by nearly 30 percent over the last year. “Rising energy prices are proving to be a significant burden for American families,” explains Senator Lee. “Families are being forced to spend more this winter to fuel their cars, travel to work, and heat their homes. Our research at the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) finds that these rising energy prices hit the lowest income households the hardest, and that the Administration’s policies have played a role. Unleashing production of American energy is critical to bring down these soaring prices.” The report states that the average American household spent $1,200 dollars more on energy costs in 2021 than they did the year before. Households with the lowest income spent over 10 percent of their budget on energy costs alone. Link to the full report at www.jec.senate.gov.
