The number one tourist site for the state of Utah will soon include videos featuring Uintah County trails. A $150,000 dollar fiscal incentive grant will provide the funds for the new trail mapping interactive system. Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp presented the grant and agreement between the Utah Division of Recreation and Uintah County during the Uintah County Commission meeting last week. Coltharp shared that the plan is to create 10 interactive trail maps that will show ATVs on the trails so the viewer can determine the skill level needed and obstacles to be faced on the trails. She expressed her excitement for the project and said Uintah County will be the first in the state of Utah to provide these interactive videos to be featured on Utah.com, which is the number one visited tourist site for the state. The first video is in production and the others are expected to be filmed this coming May, June, and July. The Commissioners gave their approval of the project that will require $48,000 dollars in cash match that will come from several sources including marketing money from the travel and tourism department to be paid over a two-year period.
