Duchesne County DARE Program Building Kids Up To Face Today’s Challenges

Bullying has been around forever but kids now have to deal with it in new forms. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Deputy Misti Duncan is doing her part as a DARE instructor to educate and prepare kids to handle a variety of life’s challenges, including bullying. DARE is an optional class for the elementary students in Duchesne County School District but Deputy Duncan says that those participating are all great kids that she loves working with. Altamont’s DARE graduation is up next with 40 students completing the program and there are 7 total schools with graduations coming up in the next few months. Deputy Duncan hopes families continue to have their children participate in DARE as it reinforces the truth that there are real consequences for the things we do. She also hopes to reach more families about the dangers of giving kids cell phones. Parents need to monitor phones closely and make sure the friends they are interacting with on the phone are people they know in real life rather than someone hiding behind a screen to bully or have a negative influence. Learn more about the DARE program by contacting your school.
