While thankfully less deadly, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is surging and due to the state of Utah reaching testing resource capacity, Governor Cox announced on Thursday that the Test-To-Stay programs in schools are suspended. This announcement came around the same time that it was confirmed that Uintah High School had 34 student cases of COVID-19 thus reaching the threshold of cases that would normally mean the Test-To-Stay program would go into effect. In compliance with the Governor’s announcement, Uintah High School will not be implementing Test-To-Stay protocols but in-person learning for Uintah High School will not be available today, January 14th. Instead Uintah High students must attend classes online. No changes are being made to scheduled games, competitions, or extracurricular activities but the district will closely monitor case counts at the high school and if numbers continue to increase, could temporarily move the high school to online learning. For now, however, students will return to in-person learning at Uintah High School as scheduled on Tuesday, January 18th. Any students experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should not come to school and those who test positive for COVID-19 are required to isolate at home for 5 days from the day they are tested, regardless of symptoms.
