Duchesne County Commissioners approved a contract with the Upper Payment Limit (UPL) program during their January 3rd Commission meeting. Upper Payment Limit is a federal program that enables long term care facilities access to additional funding to bridge the gap between what the State pays for Medicaid patients and what Medicare allows. The meeting minutes explain that “this contract requires a contracted Non-State Governmental Organization (NSGO), Duchesne County, to partner with the Care Center to participate in the program and access the federal funds. The contract amount is $10 million dollars for the contract period January 1st, 2022 through December 31st, 2027. The Upper Payment Limit program helps the facility come closer to covering operational costs that cannot be met by patient payments alone.” The Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the contract.
