The cause of a structure fire in Uintah County on Monday evening is under investigation. According to Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, the fire department received a page for a structure fire at approximately 950 South 600 West in Vernal on Monday at around 6:45pm. “Crews arrived to find a detached garage on fire threatening nearby structures,” explains Raymond. “Crews began immediate knockdown of the fire as well as protecting exposures. While they were fighting the fire, the roof collapsed making the fire difficult to extinguish. The cold weather also made suppression difficult at times. The fire was under control in about 60 minutes and crews stayed on scene for a while to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.” Thankfully there were no injuries reported. The loss is estimated at approximately $400,000 dollars between the structure and contents.
