The Rise and Thrive Business Pitch Competition will make more dreams a reality this spring, including the ambitions of young dreamers. Innovation Hub Manager Lori Haslem shared this week that a student division has been added to the competition for any enrolled student in the Basin to pitch an idea for the chance to win a $5,000 dollar cash prize and scholarship opportunities. The main competition had 31 applicants last year, a number Lori says they hope to beat this year. So how does it work? The presenters each have 6 minutes to get an idea and concept across to the panel of judges. After the competition process, a winner is announced who will receive $12,000 dollars plus sponsorships aimed at getting the business going. If you are interested and looking for tips to stand out, Lori says that last year all three winners had done their homework. They came in with financials and on the spot were able to answer the judges questions and explain how their idea was reasonable, financially doable, and something needed in our area. The application deadline is February 11th and applications are available at www.vernalinnovationhub.com.
