Nothing says “I care” quite like a homemade card and an important part of the population especially needs to get that message. It’s the 7th year for ‘Cards 4 Kids At Heart’ and it’s time to get crafting those homemade Valentines that will be delivered to senior citizens throughout the region in time for Valentine’s Day. The ‘Cards 4 Kids At Heart’ project was organized by KLCY morning show host Amy Richards in memory of her Grandma. “The last thing that I received from her was a hand-written card,” shares Richards. “I never had a chance to send her one back before she passed and I know in my heart, she would have loved one from me.” Now each year Amy invites the entire community to join in spreading love to our senior community members, last year delivering cards and goodies to 807 seniors from Rangely, Colorado to Duchesne and north to Manila. Tax deductible donations are also welcome this year through the Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley. Checks written to Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley can be delivered to Amy at the KVEL studio on North Vernal Avenue or a donation can be made at Mountain America Credit Union under Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley with the name Cards For Kids At Heart noted. Homemade card donations can be dropped off in Vernal at the Chirocenter, Realty One, and the KCLY/Fox Studio or at Subway in Roosevelt.
