Vernal City has an easy way to recycle your live Christmas tree but if you’re not quite ready to part with it, here’s a suggestion offered by the Conservation Issues Committee of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. Some people choose to keep their tree and turn it into a winter bird feeder. Leave the tree in its stand and set it up outside. Redecorate it with seed balls, strings of popcorn, berries, peanuts or anything local birds can safely enjoy. In the spring, cut up the tree for firewood or chip it for your own mulch. If turning your tree into a winter bird feeder isn’t your style, there is another recycling option. Remove all decorations and drop it off at the Vernal City parking lot located at 100 West 100 North. There are signs up for the spot you can put your tree. Collected trees are chipped into mulch for landscaping use in the City.
