The redistricting of Utah will certainly have an effect on lives in the Uintah Basin and those boundaries are now in the hands of the Utah Legislature. On Monday, the Utah Independent Redistricting Commission presented their recommendations at the Utah State Capitol Building. The Commission was tasked with proposing maps to distinguish new district and school board boundaries based on the 2020 census. The process of taking public input and selecting maps to recommend to the legislature was not always smooth. In fact, last week former Congressman Rob Bishop resigned from the commission stating frustration with the process and where things were going with the map recommendations. The nearly 200 page document that includes the recommended map options can be downloaded from www.uirc.utah.gov.
