Northeastern Utah is among the areas of the state where pheasants are being released ahead of youth and general hunts. The statewide youth pheasant hunt started on Saturday and runs through November 4th. The general pheasant hunting season will run from November 6th to December 5th. Areas of Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett Counties have or will have pheasants released. The Division of Wildlife Resources releases thousands of pheasants each week on various wildlife management areas around the state. Thankfully, drought impact on pheasant populations were minimal in northeastern Utah due to their habitat being so closely aligned with irrigated crop lands.
