If you’re like most people, the name John Dingell doesn’t ring a bell but the Bureau of Land Management is hoping the public will take an interest in offering feedback as they begin a process involving the Dingell Act. The Dingell Act is short for the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act. This Act allows the BLM to start a process of making amendments to resource management plans which is something now underway for the Moab, Price, and Vernal Field Offices. The amendments being proposed deal with implementing new wilderness, national monument, national conservation area, recreation areas, and Wild and Scenic River designations and public comment is encouraged. “This is a great opportunity for the public to help the BLM identify what issues should be analyzed during the planning process, and to play an active role in the future management of the remarkable areas designated by Congress in the Dingell Act,” shares Green River District Manager Lance Porter. Public meetings are taking place through Zoom on November 17th from 3 to 5pm and November 18th from 5 to 7pm. Comments can also be submitted by mail, email, or through the BLM website through November 27th.
