Be Avalanche Safe; Know Current Danger Ratings

by | Feb 22, 2019 | News | 0 comments

After close calls and even a death in the Uinta Mountains, Utah Avalanche Center is trying to help keep our outdoor adventurers as safe as possible. If you know anyone who skis, snowboards, snowmobiles, or snowshoes in the backcountry be sure they are being avalanche safe. Part of that is having the rescue gear, a beacon, shovel, probe partner, and the knowledge to use them. Avalanche safety includes getting the gear as mentioned. Get the training by taking an avalanche course. Be sure to get the forecast for your area from the Utah Avalanche Center. Get the picture by knowing and identifying signs of instability. And always be sure to get out of harm’s way by avoiding the terrain traps and always stop in a safe location. Current danger ratings are available on
