Final approval of the Uinta Basin Railway from the Federal Surface Transportation Board is highly anticipated and could be getting very close. When asked about the project on the Direct Link statewide radio program this week, Governor Spencer Cox emphasized his support of the project and what it could mean. “It’s a huge deal for the Basin,” shared Cox. “Of course it will help in the energy sector to transport natural gas and oil that come out of that Basin…but it’s better for so many other things as well, [such as] bringing manufacturing back to Utah.” Cox emphasized that with what is happening with China there is a need for manufacturers. “They are coming back to Utah and they need to be able to transport. The Uintah Basin is the perfect place for some of these manufacturing operations,” concluded Cox, who closed by emphasizing that the state is optimistic and believes the rail will be built over the next couple of years. Direct Link is a Utah Radio Broadcasters Association program and it is aired every other month on Newstalk 104.5 FM and AM 920 KVEL.
