County officials from across the United States have arrived in Utah for the 2021 NACo Western Interstate Region Conference this week and things are getting kicked off in eastern Utah. The conference starts in Salt Lake City on Wednesday but today conference goers that registered in advance are on a full-day tour to the Uintah Basin as part of NACo’s Rural Action Caucus. The group of 75 will first experience an oil and gas tour in Duchesne County before heading to Uintah County for a trip to see Moonshine Arch followed by the Wall of Bones. Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp says the group will discuss the impacts of the oil and gas industry in the community, focusing on the benefits. “This is a great chance to showcase not only the beauty and recreation opportunities here,” shares Coltharp, “but also the oil and gas industry and give representatives from across the country a better understanding of it all.” The NACo Conference this week wraps up on Friday in Salt Lake City.
