The local food pantries can use some helping hands. The Ashley Valley Food Pantry in Vernal is seeking volunteer help with the food rescue on the mornings of Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This will involve loading groceries into the back of the truck so strong arms and backs are especially welcome. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments runs four food pantries in northeastern Utah. They are the Duchesne County Food Pantry in Roosevelt, the Ashley Valley Food Pantry in Vernal, Westside Food Pantry in Duchesne, and Flaming Gorge Food Pantry in Manila. Volunteer opportunities are available and of course food donations are always appreciated, especially with the holidays approaching. Last month, UBAOG gave a huge thank you to all who were part of donating the 5,153 pounds of food received for the Day of Service on September 11th.
