Utah Highway Patrol has released the names in Wednesday’s fatal accident near Strawberry Reservoir. The deceased driver is Esteban Rivas-Dimas of Roosevelt and the deceased left rear passenger is Pascual Navarro of Mexico. The accident took place on Highway 40
at 3:15pm
at Mile Post 52 about 1 mile east of the Soldier Creek Turn. “SR-40 in the area of the crash was snowy and icy,” shares Highway Patrol. “A green Ford Expedition was eastbound on SR-40 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.  It slid sideways into the westbound lanes of travel [and] the driver side of the Expedition impacted with the front plow portion of a westbound UDOT snow plow.” Rivas-Dimas and Navarro were both killed in the impact. The other two occupants in the Expedition were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, as was the driver of the snow plow. Our condolences to the family and friends of Esteban Rivas-Dimas and Pascual Navarro.
