Excited is an understatement when it comes to how the talented members of the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra feel about their upcoming concert after having an entire year off. It’s exciting not only to the youth but the leaders of the organization that strives to bring out the best in these musicians. “I feel like these kids not only wanted to come together to make music, but after such a crazy year of being told so frequently NO about everything that they wanted to do together, they also NEEDED to get together and to be told, YES!” shares Dr. Marietta Oviatt who joins Brian Gibson as the organization’s two new artistic directors. “I feel as if they truly appreciate the freedom and opportunity that UBYCO brings to them, and they simply have fun getting together each week to accomplish great art.” Dr. Oviatt says getting involved with UBYCO was an easy choice. “I’ve worked with so many amazing Youth Orchestra programs all over the United States, but I am by far most proud of my involvement with this organization in my own hometown!” she shares. “I am just so excited for the future of UBYCO, and the opportunity to help to enrich an already amazing arts community in the Basin.” The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra concert is coming up May 7th at 7pm at the Vernal Christian Church. Tickets are $5 for adults and anyone 18 and under are free.
