Being the host city of a conference welcoming community leaders from across the state comes with benefits to the community. After a 4 year break, the 2021 Building Utah Conference is underway and of all the places it could be held it is happening right here in Vernal. This annual conference (also known as ‘Utah Roads School’) is hosted by the Utah Association of Counties and will be at the Uintah Conference Center April 6th, 7th, and 8th. Uintah County Commissioner Brad Horrocks shares that there are many local benefits from hosting the Building Utah Conference including filling hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, and gas stations. It’s also valuable to have these influential leaders spending time in the Uintah Basin and seeing what all there is to do here so they can spread the word and return. Among those that will be in the Uintah Basin for the event, Governor Spencer Cox will be speaking as well as performing several ceremonial bill signings. The ceremonial bill signings are happening for HB 433 ‘Amendments Related to Infrastructure Funding’, SB 243 ‘Political Subdivisions Amendments’, and SB 176 ‘Mineral Lease Funds Amendments’.
