by | Mar 25, 2021 | News | 0 comments

Vaccines and preventing the spread of illness are dinnertime talk compared to pre-pandemic life when most folks left all that to the health professionals. This week’s Give’m Health topic with TriCounty Health Department is Epidemiology and TriCounty Health Epi Coordinator Cyndie Mattinson had plenty to share. “Epidemiology is very important to our community, our state, our nation, and our world as a whole,” shared Mattinson during a radio interview with Amy on KLCY.  Epidemiology is the study of diseases and conditions and how it affects the population. Health departments like TriCounty Health have always tracked reportable diseases such as Measles and STDs but more people are now tuning into this practice thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mattinson says that it brought into the public’s awareness what they do with disease investigation and how to slow the spread of disease. Epidemiology is not about being invasive in people’s lives. It’s just utilizing science to slow the spread of disease. Listen to the entire radio interview under Give’m Health on www.tricountyhealth.com
