HB 166 ‘Livestock Amendments’ Signed Into Law by Governor Cox

A bill addressing the treatment and theft of livestock has been signed into law. HB 166, Livestock Amendments, was among 57 total bills signed into law by Governor Spencer Cox last week. It states that a person who shoots or steals a farmers’ livestock could lose their hunting privileges among other penalties. HB 166 also defines herding dogs as livestock and stiffens penalties for those that take herding dogs whether knowingly stealing or someone thinking they are rescuing the dog off the mountain. HB 166 had local support from the Vernal Chamber Legislative Committee and the Uintah Cattlemen Association. Governor Cox signed HB 166 on March 11th.
