Thanks to the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program the COVID-19 vaccination will soon be available at Smiths and Walmart. “Utah has selected Walmart and Smith’s/Kroger to receive the initial doses as part of this program,” shares the announcement on Coronavirus.utah.gov. “This means 29 Smith’s/Kroger pharmacies and 18 Walmart pharmacies will begin receiving COVID-19 doses. These pharmacies were selected because they have locations throughout the state, making it easier for Utahns to access vaccinations near their homes…Most Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy. This is especially important for rural areas and in underserved urban areas.” The pharmacies are expected to start receiving Moderna doses as early as February 11th. The vaccines will still be limited to those individuals who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine based on Utah’s eligibility criteria. Systems are expected to be in place soon to schedule an appointment for a vaccine at Walmart.com and Smithsfoodanddrug.com.
