**Please report if you have seen the missing family dog that ran away during the fire. View picture below.**

Nothing could have emotionally prepared the Engle family for the tragedy that struck last week when their home in the Painted Hills subdivision burned to the ground along with all their earthly possessions. Amazingly, there was something, however, that mom Nicole Engle says did prepare them physically when tragedy struck. Nicole had learned some basic fire safety when she was in elementary school and had taught her family to keep their doors closed at night and what to do in the event of a house fire which she says ultimately saved their lives. “We were lucky!” shares Nicole. “The fire moved so fast and it was so hard to think. Please have family fire drills often even if it’s just a conversation about what to do. My kids did so good getting out of the house that night and I think that is because we have spoken about what to do in the event of a fire,” continues Nicole. “I’m really glad that I did.” Nicole also offers a big thank you to the community that she says has really held their family together emotionally, physically, and spiritually. “It’s been a whirlwind of emotions for sure,” shares Nicole. “It’s devastating but so humbling as well.” Nicole also expressed a big thanks for their family who has been so patient and helpful as well as immense gratitude for their neighbor who woke them up and alerted them of the fire. If you’d like to help the Engle family as they rebuild from nothing a Venmo has been set up under Nicole-Engle-11 and an account has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union under Engle Donation. Clothing and furniture are also being accepted at the grandparents’ home, 630 East 1500 South in Vernal. Once complete, a separate report on how to help the family from the other home fire will be shared.
