Public Feedback Requested on DWR 2019 Big Game Hunts Recommendations

by | Apr 2, 2019 | News | 0 comments

DWR biologists have shared their recommendations for the 2019 big game hunts and public feedback is requested. “There is always an opportunity versus quality debate when it comes to managing wildlife,” shares big game coordinator Covy Jones, “but for us, biology and the health of the herd always come first. As a result, plans are an essential part of effective wildlife management.” Deer populations did increase in 2018 bringing the state total to approximately 372,500 deer. Pronghorn populations are also doing well with biologists recommending additional permits this year. Several new hunts are being proposed to help manage some populations including five new doe deer hunts. All the proposed changes can be viewed at

. Feedback is welcome through email or by attending the Northeastern Region RAC meeting on April 18th at 5:30pm at the DWR Northeastern Region Office on Vernal Avenue.
