Ashley National Forest has reported on restoration work on Paradise Campground during the fall. “The campground is located within the Vernal Ranger District next to Paradise Reservoir and the historic Paradise Guard Station. This inter-departmental project was made possible with the help of the engineering and heritage programs. The heritage program conducted the pre-construction historic survey and site evaluation with a finding of ‘no historic property’ that cleared the way for the remodel work to commence. The engineering staff provided the blueprint for the site remodel, and the skilled road crew equipment operators accomplished the heavy-duty work. The Vernal recreation staff provided design direction, installed new fire rings and a stream access gate, and painted picnic tables and restrooms. Restoration work included removing deteriorated wood and concrete barriers, installing native rock barriers, replacing campfire rings, replacing picnic tables, re-aligning parking spurs, installing road base, and repainting structures.”
