Members of National Honors Society at Uintah High School are collecting items for a very local cause. They are hosting a Backpack Buddy Drive in which they hope to help elementary students in the community who may not get enough to eat during the weekends or holidays. “Through the Backpack Buddies program, elementary school kids in need receive a weekly backpack of kid-friendly food to supplement their meals from Thursday night until they return to school on Monday morning,” shares Uintah School District. NHS students are working to collect donations such as mac and cheese, applesauce, granola bars, string cheese, ramen noodles, peanut butter/crackers, cheese/crackers, Slim Jims, pudding cups, and fruit cups. Anyone wishing to donate can drop off their items at the high school’s main office. The drive will go until Tuesday, November 17th at 3pm.
