Locals and beyond have enjoyed the entertainment of trying to catch crawfish aka freshwater lobsters. All one needs is a strong piece of string with a large piece of bait on one end, chunks of meat, fish (no game fish, or offal work best. Crayfish can be found in Duchesne River and Green River Basins, Flaming Gorge, Starvation and Strawberry Reservoirs, as well as numerous lakes, ponds, and streams throughout Utah. At this time there is no limit on crayfish, one just needs a regular fishing license. Save them for bait or cook them up. In case you’re wondering if they are edible, in French gourmet cooking, there are only 10 recipes for shrimp, three for crab, but there are 25 different recipes for crayfish!
