Monday’s local COVID-19 Situational Update on tricountyhealth.com shared that Active Cases in the TriCounty Health District has reached 51 in Uintah County, 28 in Duchesne County, and 6 within the Ute Indian Tribe. With cases increasing, TriCounty Health Department issued a press release on Monday: “TriCounty Health Department urges the public to follow current guidelines and Public Health Directives. Current guidelines require face masks in all public areas where physical distancing is not possible, especially in counties listed as moderate or high risk and limiting social gatherings to 10 people or less. More individuals are testing positive for COVID-19 in Uintah and Duchesne counties. On August 3rd, TriCounty Health Department saw a total of 95 active cases. TriCounty Health Department is currently nearing that high case count from August. On October 19th, TriCounty Health saw 83 active cases, the majority of which were in Uintah County. The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Water Quality COVID-19 sewer monitoring is showing that the Ashley Valley Sewer treatment facility has surpassed where Ashley Valley was on August 3rd. The Roosevelt sewer treatment facility measures have also increased significantly from past weeks. These surveillance metrics have TriCounty Health Department concerned that there could potentially be a larger number of COVID-19 cases than the area has seen to date. Wearing a face mask has shown to decrease transmission of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. Maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet or greater from members of separate households, staying home when sick and practicing proper hygiene and handwashing with soap and water is important in slowing the transmission of COVID-19.
