Popular demand has allowed the US National Weather Service to offer two virtual All Hazards Spotter Training Classes to locals. The storm spotter program is a nationwide program with more than 280,000 trained spotters. These volunteers report weather hazards to their local National Weather Service office providing vital information when severe weather strikes. Data from spotters includes measurements and observations of severe wind, rain, snow, thunderstorms and hail and of course tornadoes. Storm spotters are part of the ranks of citizens who form the Nation’s first line of defense against severe weather. The work of storm spotters offers the precious gift of time–seconds and minutes that can help save lives. These classes are free and open to all residents of eastern Utah and western Colorado. The first class will be Friday, November 6th ar 9am until 11am and the second class will be Monday, November 16th from 11am to 1pm. Interested individuals need to register and can find a link at the US National Weather Service Grand Junction Colorado Facebook page. After registering, individuals will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
