It’s time for the big hunt and the Division of Wildlife Resources has a few important reminders for those heading out to be part of the sea of orange. DWR Regional Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby emphasizes the following: Make sure you wear your hunter orange. Make sure to read the instructions and attach your tag properly by detaching it from the permit and notching the month, date and sex of the animal. Remember that the DWR will have monitoring checkpoints set up to check wildlife for Chronic Wasting Disease. Check points will be set up Saturday through Monday from 9am to dark where a sample will be taken to test. Leave 6 inches of animal neck and windpipe attached as they need the lymph nodes in order to test. There will be a check station on 191 north of Vernal and near Strawberry Reservoir. If you miss the check point station you can call the DWR office and make an appointment to get a sample taken during the week. For more information, visit www.wildlife.utah.gov.
