Take Extra Precautions When Wildfire Smoke is Affecting Air Quality

A hazy sky may not have the same shock value as its occurrence becomes more common but poor air quality can result in side effects, especially for vulnerable individuals. Wildfires from around the West are putting off large amounts of smoke which can literally get trapped in the Uintah Basin for days at a time until the right weather pattern sends it on its way. “People with respiratory issues should take extra precautions like staying indoors as much as possible,” shares TriCounty Health Officer Jordan Mathis. “When they go out, they should consider wearing a mask. Keep windows in homes closed despite the cooler weather as well.” It’s also worth noting that even those without respiratory issues should avoid strenuous or prolonged activity outside on days of poor air quality.
