High winds are not helping things on the fires in Duchesne County and evacuations are taking place in the Pigeon Water and McCafee Basin and areas of BIA lands south of Moon Lake. Ashley National Forest has also shared that pre-evacuation notifications are taking place in Yellowstone Canyon and the Hells Canyon Road 227 will be closed. On Sunday, evacuations began in the Rock Creek Drainage area including campgrounds and dispersed campsites. The Sunday report stated that the Rock Creek Fire had seen a growth of 910 acres from the day before bringing the total to 5,061 acres with containment staying at 22 percent. The East Fork Fire is assigned 3 helicopters, 5 engines, 1 hotshot crew, 1 Wildland Fire Module with 90 firefighters. The Phinney Lake Fire continues to burn into the Northeast drainage of Fall Creek towards East Fork. It has reached 1,039 acres, a growth of 643 acres from Saturday. Over the weekend the Center Creek Trail Fire had a burst of activity contributing to the intense smoke in the area. The update on the Center Creek Fire shared that smoke from the East Fork Fire and Phinney Fire sheltered the Center Creek Trail Fire keeping most of the activity to the East side of the fire and the East side had spot fires one quarter mile from the Yellowstone River. As of Monday, the Center Creek Fire had 36 firefighters assigned to it and one helicopter. All are asked to stay out of the closure area so that firefighters can continue operations to protect critical infrastructure.
