Workers for the 2020 census have already started to visit homes in the Uintah Basin area. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments has shared information to help citizens identify an official census taker. Census takers will only visit from 9am to 9pm in local time. They will be wearing an official badge with their name, a photograph, U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date. They will also carry an iPhone to record information and their vehicle will display an “Official Business” notice. Census takers are required to wear a mask and will maintain six foot social distance. If you still feel hesitant, you can call 844-330-2020 to be able to speak with a Census Bureau representative to confirm their identity. If you do not want to have a census taker at your home then be sure to find another way to take the Census. The Census is easy to complete and only takes a few minutes online. Only one Census is required per household. Include every person living in your household when filling out the questionnaire. Go to www.my2020census.gov and click “Start Questionnaire.”
