Progress has continued on the ‘6400 Fire’ that started in Fruitland on Friday. According to fire PIO Mike Eriksson, the fire was 75 percent contained as of Monday evening. “This was a human caused fire that is under investigation,” shares Eriksson. “Winds quickly pushed this fire to the east after multiple starts along a short section of Highway 40 in Fruitland Utah. Due to the quick response of the Fruitland fire department, engines and water tenders were on scene within minutes. Unfortunately high winds pushed the fire into a home that firefighters were not able to save. One home was lost and another damaged. Additionally 2 sheds, a trailer and one other small outbuilding were lost in the fire. Engines and Dozers were able to stop the forward progress of the fire around 5:00 pm and started to secure the lines and work hot spots. At 6:00 pm evacuations for the 6 homes were lifted and residents were allowed to return to their homes…A helicopter flight in the evening put the acreage at 225.
