At first glance you might not recognize the signs but Rifle Police Department is encouraging all to take a closer look at their cash since fake bills surfaced in Rifle on Monday. “The bills look real if you glance at them quickly,” shares the Rifle Police Department. “[They] have markings that indicate they are not legitimate currency, but you have to look closely to find the markings.” The bills discovered on Monday was a $20 dollar bill and a $100 dollar bill. The most obvious indicator that the $20 dollar bill is fake is that “REPLICA” is printed in small text in the top left corner and the bottom right corner. The $100 dollar bill is easier to spot as fake as it has the words “FOR MOTION PICTURE PURPOSES” in small print on multiple locations on the face of the bill.
