Moffat County Streeter Fire

by | Jul 8, 2020 | News | 0 comments

RED FLAG conditions were warned throughout the area and unfortunately they contributed to the difficulty that crews have been having battling the Streeter Fire in Moffat County. The fire on Colorado Highway 13 led to the highway being closed yesterday and the Colowyo Coal Mine being evacuated. The high winds, dry weather, and hot temperatures have helped the fire to burn in excess of 1,000 acres with zero containment. The fire has burned multiple powerlines, as well as threatened structures at nearby ranches. Red Flag conditions are expected to continue into today so any persons planning to travel in the area should be sure to stay up to date on the road conditions. Moffat County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page has a link to more information.
