The Situational Update page on www.tricountyhealth.com is reporting 5 new cases of COVID-19 in Uintah County, a jump that was anticipated due to likely spread within the home of a confirmed case over the weekend. The update shows an overall total of 17 confirmed cases in Uintah County with 9 Recovered. The numbers for the other areas remain the same reporting 9 total cases in Duchesne County with 8 Recovered and zero cases reported in both Daggett County and the Ute Indian Tribe. The estimated number of tests conducted in the tri-county area is 4,143. During the state’s daily COVID-19 press conference held on Thursday, Governor Herbert stated that the process for areas to move to Green throughout the state starts at the local level. He explained that leaders from each of the 13 regions that are governed by their own health department can meet and decide if they believe it is time for their area to move to a different phase. If those leaders feel that their area is ready to move to a lower phase like Yellow or Green then they would meet with their local health department and board and have a discussion to review if the data justifies the change of designation. If it is believed that a move is justified then the request can be submitted to the state where a decision will be made. Herbert said that so far only Kane County has requested the move to Green and their request has been approved and will take effect Friday. For state COVID-19 updates, visit www.coronavirus.utah.gov
