Congressman Rob Bishop was the special guest speaker at the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting held on Tuesday and he shared his positive outlook for the future of the Uintah Basin. Bishop has served as the Congressman for Utah’s 1st Congressional District since 2003 and is now in his 8th and final term. “I have appreciated my opportunity of being part of the Uintah Basin and Uintah County,” shared Bishop. “I have appreciated everything we have done together…These are economically hard times. The virus has changed everything. It’s changed your lives. It’s changed your economy [but] it’s going to be done sometime. Things will come back.” Bishop then went on to explain there are some programs he believes could help before returning to his hopeful message. “This area will rebound,” he said. “This area has so much to give and so much to offer and the economic situation we are in right now will change again so you do have a bright future out here…just be patient and things will come back again.” Bishop closed his address by saying he looks forward to that day when the economy is going again and thanked those in attendance for all they are doing.
