The Uintah County Commission met on Monday, June 1st and within the regular scheduled meeting two items were decided on. First, the commission unanimously voted to “extend the local emergency declaration due to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that continue to affect businesses throughout the county. ̈ The emergency declaration is part of a legal process that enables the county to apply for financial aid for businesses, organizations and families in the Basin. It also allows the county to ask for and receive disaster assistance and mutual aid from the state, the federal government, and other government entities, should that become necessary. The declaration has been in effect since March 20th and will be extended through Monday, July 6th. The other item was that the commissioners made the decision not to extend the requirement that face coverings be worn by employees or visitors to county facilities. Individuals can still wear coverings, if they so desire, or if the situation does not allow a distance of six feet from each other. That being said the public is encouraged to conduct as much business over the phone or emails as possible to reduce traffic in the buildings.
