This isn’t the first report of local infrastructure being vandalized but it may be the incident that will ultimately affect the most people. Uintah County Emergency Management shared a message from Rocky Mountain Power on Wednesday stating that there will be a planned power outage that is necessary to complete the replacement of a three pole transmission structure that was vandalized by gun fire. The outage is scheduled for
May 10th from midnight until 5:00am
and those affected will be all Rocky Mountain Power customers within Vernal, Naples, and the surrounding Uintah County area. “We urge any customer who will be using any type of back-up power, to isolate their power source from the utility electrical system to avoid back-feed onto Rocky Mountain Power facilities as this can cause a very dangerous and unsafe condition,” shares the announcement. “Additionally, we urge those driving during the outage times to take extra caution, especially at intersections as there may be no traffic signals in operation.” Rocky Mountain Power apologized for the inconvenience and promised to restore the power as quickly as possible. Spread the word to neighbors, family, and friends so all have a chance to prepare.
