All are asked to be on the lookout for crooks. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, oil and gas producers in the Uintah Basin are seeing an increase in theft and vandalism at their well sites. “This activity is not only dangerous, in some cases it also poses serious environmental threats,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “These illegal actions are causing more wells to be shut-in due to the high cost of repairs and, consequently, impacting even more jobs in the Basin.” A $5,000 dollar reward is being offered by the Uintah Basin Oil and Gas Operators for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of the thieves and vandals. If you have any information about these incidents, please call the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office at 435-738-2015 or Central Dispatch at 435-789-4222.
