A historic drop in oil prices has only added to the economic devastation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the future remains unsure, there has been at least one positive announcement with the potential to help the the energy industry move in the right direction in the future. Uintah County Commission Chair Brad Horrocks shared on Tuesday that he recently spoke with representatives from Drexel Hamilton Infrastructure Partners about the future of the Uinta Basin Railway project. Horrocks reports that Drexel Hamilton assured him that the project is proceeding, despite current economic concerns related to COVID-19 and the drop in oil prices. “There may be some minor delays in building the railway, but the project is still moving forward,” shares Horrocks. The Uinta Basin Railway is a public-private partnership to fund, build and operate a new rail line to connect the Uinta Basin to the national rail network.
