A grass fire in Uintah County resulted in exterior fire to a home on Wednesday afternoon. According to Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, a person driving by called the fire in at around 2:30pm. The fire was burning on the exterior of the home and burning in the front yard, grass, leaves, trees, and some combustible items. Crews extinguished the fire outside including the corner of the house but were able to put it out before it spread to the inside of the home. The fire crew did make entry and there was only light smoke damage to the inside. A few cats were also inside but were okay. The home owner was not home at the time. “It appears that grass caught on fire and then spread to nearby combustibles,” shares Raymond. “The ignition source is unknown but remains under investigation. The estimated damage is around $20,000 dollars.”
