The Utah Department of Health provided an update this week on the proposed Medical Cannabis Pharmacy License locations for the state and Vernal is no longer on the list. On January 3rd, the Utah Department of Health announced the companies awarded licenses and Pure UT was among them with a future location listed in Vernal. At that time, the Vernal Towne Center Facebook page confirmed that plans were in place for the medical cannabis pharmacy to be located in their center. There had only been 14 total licenses awarded in the entire state and Richard Oborn of the Department of Health said it had been a highly competitive process with more than 130 applications submitted. In the March 10th update, Pure UT remains on the list among those awarded a license but the location of their proposed operation has been changed to Payson. Pure UT was unable to be reached for comment on why a change was made in their location but TriCounty Health Department shared on Wednesday that Pure UT backed out of the Vernal location and that it was not a health department decision.
