The public is invited to learn about an area of Ashley National Forest newly designated as the Ashley Karst National Recreation Geologic Area. While the exact boundaries are still being worked out, the NRGA will be located generally up Taylor Mountain Road to the summit of the mountains and then over to and down Whiterocks River. A meeting will be held this month on what this area is and what this could mean for uses in the area. Ashely National Forest shares that:“The open house will begin with a twenty minute presentation that includes an overview of the legislation designating the NRGA and a description of the lands that have been designated…The intent of the public meeting is to increase awareness about the NRGA and learn more about future plans for the development of a management plan for the area as required by the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act.” The meeting will take place on March 26th at the Uintah Conference Center from 6 to 8pm.
